In many companies with a shift system, the question quickly arises: "Can a team share a BionicBack exoskeleton?" It would be practical to pass the system on, especially when colleagues work one after the other - e.g. when changing shifts. But what about hygiene, wearing comfort and customisation? In this article, we explain what is important when sharing an exoskeleton such as the BionicBack - and how comfort and cleanliness can also be ensured within a team
The BionicBack in shift operation - is that possible?
The short answer: Yes, the BionicBack can be used by several people - provided a few things are taken into account. The system is designed in such a way that it can be quickly adapted to different bodies, but has as few contact surfaces as possible.
Comfort despite a split system? This is how the BionicBack is constructed:
The design of the shoulder straps ensures even pressure distribution without constricting. Thanks to the airy, flexible material, body heat is reduced - a decisive advantage during physically demanding work.
The exoskeleton is designed in such a way that it has few direct contact surfaces with the skin. This results in less sweating - and also reduces the amount of cleaning required. The central contact points, such as the back and shoulder pads, are removable and washable, which significantly simplifies hygiene when changing use.
Upholstery care made easy - optimised for shared use
The upholstery can be removed and washed in a few simple steps. Depending on the intensity and frequency of use, a simple washing schedule or replacement after the shift is usually sufficient.
For use in changing teams, padding sets are available that can be washed at 60 °C and quickly attached with Velcro - without any tools. This means that each person can use their own hygienic pad set.
The X-ERGO 3D pads - our insider tip for more comfort
The X-ERGO 3D pads offer noticeably more comfort during physically active use. Their innovative design reduces heat build-up by up to 90 % - ideal for long periods of wear and changing conditions of use. This is made possible by a specially developed 3-zone system:
Super soft on sensitive areas of the body
Soft for even pressure distribution
Standard for stable contact surfaces with a secure hold
This combination ensures an optimum fit and adapts individually to the body. This ensures a high level of comfort, especially when worn split - regardless of body shape or daily form.
The air-permeable mesh structure of the pads also supports the evaporation of sweat and ensures that the material dries quickly. This not only increases comfort, but also hygiene during multiple use.
Recommendations for teams that share a BionicBack
🔁 Separate pads for each employee - so it stays hygienic and comfortable
🧼 Regular cleaning - especially with frequent use
🧩 Use X-ERGO 3D pads - for more air circulation and less heat build-u
⚙️ Practise quick adjustments - so that the changeover goes smoothly
📋 Define a hygiene concept as a team - clear responsibilities help in everyday life
Conclusion
✅ The BionicBack is ideal for use in teams or shift work
✅ The contact surfaces are reduced, the pads are easily replaceable and washable
