Small freight forwarder GmbH relies on the BionicBack exoskeleton from hTRIUS

Horb am Neckar – 28 April 2025 – The logistics industry faces a major challenge: heavy loads are moved thousands of times every day. High physical strain is therefore part of everyday life for many employees. This often leads to back problems, which not only affect health but also lead to increased absenteeism. Kleine Spedition GmbH has therefore decided to use the passive exoskeleton from hTRIUS – the BionicBack.

The company picks up to 15,000 parcels every day, with weights varying between 20 grams and 40 kilograms. The constant lifting, bending and carrying places an enormous strain on the employees. "Every single employee here takes up to 20,000 steps and lifts up to 3,000 parcels every day. You notice this not only after work, but also in the long term in terms of your health," explains Thomas Rütten, Logistics Manager at Kleine Spedition GmbH. "Back pain, slipped discs and knee problems are unfortunately not uncommon here." In order to protect the health and performance of the workforce, a solution was sought – and found at the LogiMAT trade fair. The company tested the BionicBack there for the first time and, after a successful pilot phase, decided to roll it out on a large scale. "I'm no longer in pain."

The response from the workforce has been overwhelmingly positive: "I've never seen anything like it at any other company," reports one employee. "Since I started wearing the BionicBack, I no longer have back pain after work. Without the exoskeleton, I sometimes can't sleep until 2 a.m. – now everything is fine. What's particularly impressive is that many employees don't want to take the BionicBack off anymore. "We have colleagues who wear it from morning until the end of the working day. They even leave it on during breaks and only briefly loosen the straps," says Rütten. Relief you can wear – for healthier logistics The BionicBack from hTRIUS provides noticeable relief for the lower back and helps to reduce physical strain in the long term.

Freedom of movement is retained – a decisive advantage for the flexible requirements of logistics. With the introduction of the BionicBack exoskeleton, Kleine Spedition GmbH is focusing on modern, employee-friendly workplace design – and demonstrating how innovative technology can positively influence the future of logistics.
